Earlier this week, the House Budget Committee held a hearing on a CBO report on establishing a single-payer health care system, which will be the topic of my next video. Below are some of the more notable clips I’ll be working with. Most notable among these is this first clip from U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, whose logic here seems to indicate that he believes that not only are single-payer proposals like Medicare For All unconstitutional, but Social Security, Medicare, and the Veterans Administration as well.
U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., should be commended for the way in which she used her time–particularly in how she answered Roy’s ludicrous assertion about wait times.
U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., did a fantastic job teasing out the current cost of our current health care system, showing that Medicare For All would be a money-saver and good for the economy.
There are a couple of ways we could go here. On one hand, we could create a video that pairs up Chip Roy’s factual assertions about single-payer health systems with the excellent rebuttals offered by Schakowsky and Jayapal. On the other hand, we could create a more specific video that shows that Freedom Caucus people like Roy actually oppose the very principles behind our most popular government programs, Social Security and Medicare.
What do you think?
